Sadly, Brittney Murphey, who starred in the movie Girl Interrupted, has had her life prematurely interrupted when she died yesterday at the tender of 32.
According to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center spokeswoman Sally Stewart, Murphy died at 10:04 am local time on Sunday, Dec 20, 2009. Stewart would not provide a cause of death, or any further information.
Reports suggest Murphey died after suffering a cardiac arrest at the Los Angeles home she shared with husband Simon Monjack, British screen writer. Paramedics arrived shortly in response to an 8:00am phone call, after the actress’ mother allegedly discovered her unconscious in the shower at the couple’s home.
Unfortunately, Murphy could not be revived by paramedics and was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. Later reports from the paramedics confirmed her death was due to heart attack.
Some are saying that Brittany Murphy’s death may have occurred due to her alleged addiction to the same prescription drugs that killed Michael Jackson.
An anonymous friend of the late actress’ has made claims that she got hooked on painkillers including Vicodin, after undergoing a series of plastic surgery operations.
Drug abuse and even eating disorders have been suspected, although, Murphy had dismissed earlier reports of using cocaine. However, rumors still remained that she suffered from eating disorder.
Murphy’s acting career began in the 1990s with her leading role in teen movie Clueless alongside Alicia Silverstone.
The late star is well known for starring in Eminem’s 8 Mile and comic-book adaptation Sin City.
Brittney also provided the voices for several animated characters, including Luanne Platter on more than 200 episodes of U.S. TV series King of the Hill and Gloria the penguin in 2006 film Happy Feet.
Some of Murphy’s recent projects included a role in Sylvester Stallone’s upcoming film, The Expendables, set for release next year (10).
Murphey’s death has shocked and saddened many. Hollywood has definitely lost one if it’s brightest stars. Our prayers go out to Murphey’s late husband and her surviving family. RIP Brittney Murphey! You will be missed.
