The Memoirs of Hip Hop is a multimedia, interdisciplinary chorepoem play and documentary that utilizes the Arts to tell the story of Hip Hop’s life that is not always told. The show is introduced by Latasha A., the creator and lead of the production.
A brief storyline, The Memoirs of Hip Hop’s plot is Hip Hop is the main character and in the story other characters come into play such as Mama Africa (Hip Hop’s grandma) Mama Jazz (Hip Hop’s mother) Papa Funk. Hip Hop meets with Mr. Industry who basically transforms her life and the story goes on.
Alongside the metaphoric play is a documentary. This project is where various Hip Hop artists voice their thoughts on Hip Hop today and if Hip Hop were human, what would she or he be like? The documentary has a lot of new artists including J.Cole and Ninjasonik etc. Latasha used the documentary to bridge the gaps between the reality and the play.
The debut is August 7th and really big names will be in the seats including
VIBE, MTV, SONY, BET etc. This is a great opportunity to get yourself out there!

WANTED: Actors, Dancers, Poets, Rappers and Stage Crew
As an *actor*, Alot of the work is body language and improvising yourself as
the musical genre you embody. I.E if you are electronica, how would
electronica move speak feel?
The roles we are currently seeking are
: (some roles are racially cast/not that we are racist but because you
are metaphoric as you symbolize and entity,
not a generalization)
Extras/ the people: ???
If you are interested in any of these you will have to act like these genres
(improvise) at the auditions and say a few lines provided at the auditions.
Alot of this is fun! so please enjoy yourself but be professional.
*Rappers and Poets: *
I need you to come in with a quick 16 line poem or 16 bar rap about your
relationship with hip hop to spit (We prefer memorized)
*Stage Crew and extras!*
WE NEED YOU MOST!!! This show is a moving play so furniture and things of
that sort needs to moved all around and we need alot of hands for it. All we
need you to do is come in tell us about ur self and sign up!
*Dancers*:
Come in ready to dance/ something improvised ( I love freestyles) but also
some choreography! Dancers Auditions are exclusively at 9pm so be there
sharp!
